This is a sensitive technique particularly for identifying organic chemicals in a whole range of applications, although it can also characterise some inorganics. It is a useful tool in isolating and characterising biological contamination. It is helpful in routine qualitative & quantitative analysis.

Typically used in identification Detect and assay toxins in the food. Identification organic and inorganic compounds in solids or liquids mixtures, polymers, polymer blends, rubbers, forensics, pharmaceuticals (Drugs), food, flavors, oils, paints, pigments, inks, resins, adhesives, and coatings. Indirectly uses in verification the trace of organic pollutants on surfaces.
